How has your art practice differed from what you originally envisioned when you started?

I started painting when I was in grade school up to college. My normal subjects were seascapes, landscapes (Philippine scenes) and street scenes. After I finished my college degree, I stopped painting completely and worked half of my life in the banking industry. After not being active for almost 30 years, when my family moved to Florida, I began painting again, this time, beach scenes, sunsets, sunrises, moonlight and boat scenes. I love doing silhouettes and am very comfortable doing seascapes too.

When did you know you were an artist?

From the day I was born, with the artist blood in me, I do know that I'm an artist first and foremost. The focus shifted after graduation. Going back to painting is not hard for me especially when people started to appreciate my work and buy it.

What do you think the job of an artist is?

For me, I believe that all of us have artistic talent. It’s a matter of using this God given talent to the fullest. As an artist, you want to share your passion by creating beautiful paintings that people would appreciate. It’s just like creating music that you want people to hear.

What are you most proud of in terms of your art?
